Overview

Often referred to as the "Cradle of the Renaissance", it encompasses history, art and traditional Italian culture. Nestled in the Tuscany region of Italy, you'll feel transported back in time whilst strolling through its ancient streets.

As a UNESCO World Heritage site, it preserves a lot of the architecture from centuries ago, filled with iconic attractions showcasing its rich cultural heritage. Every corner you turn, you'll see historical landmarks, museums and traditional restaurants.

Florence Cathedral

Also known as Santa Maria del Fiore, or simply "Il Duomo", is one of the most iconic landmarks in the city,and is a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture.

Located in the heart of town, it is renowned for its enormous dome, designed in the 15th century. It remains the largest masonry dome in the world.

Take time to visit inside of the cathedral, featuring the famous artwork "The Last Judgement". You can also climb to the top of the dome to take in panoramic views of the city.

Ponte Vecchio

Translating literally to "Old Bridge", spanning across the Arno River, this medieval stone bridge is famous for its unique structure. It's lined with small independent shops, and has picturesque views of the river.

During the medieval times, this bridge was full of butcheries, but is now primarily filled with jewellery stores, art dealers and souvenir shops. Be sure to walk along the bridge and admire the charm of the city.

Above the shops is the Vasari Corridor, which is a passageway constructed in the 16th century, allowing the then ruling family to move between their residences without crossing paths with commoners.

Galleria Palatina and Pitti Palace

The Galleria Palatina, located within the Pitti Palace, is a stunning museum which houses one of the most prestigious art collections in Italy.

The Pitti Palace is originally the residence of the powerful Medici family, and the Galleria showcases the family's passion for art.

Right behind the Pitti Palace is the Boboli Gardens, a stunning extension to the palace. It is filled with meticulously sculpted greenery, fountains and also a vast collection of statues.

Wander through the garden's pathways, as it offers a serene escape from the city.
